There was some doubt earlier in the week about his availability, but it's now confirmed Pittsburgh will have its starter in a huge game against SMU.

Impact Holstein was taken to the locker room during the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh's annihilation of Syracuse, but the injury is reportedly not all that serious. Meanwhile, Holstein had to do very little while his defense recorded three pick-sixes against a hapless Orange team. It was easily Holstein's quietest output of the season, but his team remains undefeated and he appears to have avoided a serious injury.

Impact Holstein was taken out of the game and into the locker room in the fourth quarter of Saturday's blowout win, but the injury is not serious. Narduzzi said that Holstein was smiling and jumping around in the locker room and that he was held out as a precaution. Impact Holstein was finally held in check against California. The quarterback's yardage total (141), completion percentage (50.0) touchdown passes (0) and interceptions (2) were all his worst marks of the season thus far. In fact, this was the first game in 2024 in which he didn't throw for three touchdowns. Still, he managed to lead Pitt to the win and the Panthers are 6-0 for the first time in over 40 years. Holstein will look to get back to his usual big-time passing stats against Syracuse.

Impact Holstein was very solid in Pittsburgh's win over Cincinnati. He's now thrown for three touchdowns and 300-plus yards in consecutive games to open the season, and in Week 2, he tacked on a minor rushing output as well. The quarterback has seemingly stabilized the position at Pittsburgh after several down years, and although its early in the season, Holstein looks like he could sneakily be one of the better passers in the ACC.
