Impact Burroughs played regularly early in the season, earning one assist over the first four games. He's one of three healthy right-shot defensemen on the roster, but the Kings have opted to dress four left-handed blueliners lately, with Andreas Englund maintaining a third-pairing role over Burroughs and Caleb Jones. The 29-year-old Burroughs has added two shots on net, 10 hits, 11 PIM, four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in five appearances. Even when he plays, he has little to offer outside of toughness.

Impact Turcotte has been on the top line at even strength in recent games, but his helper Saturday was his first since Oct. 20. The 23-year-old's slump has cost him a power-play role. Turcotte is good enough to stay in the lineup, but his role is likely to be limited regardless of which line he's listed on.

Impact The 28-year-old winger has delivered back-to-back two-point performances since his benching Oct. 29, so it seems safe to say Fiala has received the message from coach Jim Hiller. Brief visit to the doghouse aside, Fiala's had a productive start to the season, racking up five goals and 10 points in his 11 games -- including three goals and six points on the power play.

Phillip Danault - Two-point effort Saturday Danault produced a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to Chicago.
Impact After helping to set up Alex Laferriere late in the second period, Danault scored the Kings' final goal of the afternoon himself in the third. It's the first goal, and first multi-point performance, of the season for the 31-year-old center, and Danault has five points in 12 games to go alo9ng with 22 shots on net, 16 hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating.

Impact The 23-year-old did all the scoring through the first two periods, giving the Kings a 2-0 lead, but Laferriere wound up being the goat when he was the only skater who failed to score in the shootout. He's found the back of the net in three straight games, and after scoring 12 goals in 81 regular-season contests as a rookie in 2023-24, Laferriere has already potted eight in the first 12 games of the current campaign. Saturday's power-play tally was also the first of his NHL career.

Darcy Kuemper - Late collapse against Chicago Kuemper made 18 saves in regulation and overtime and failed to make a stop on three shootout attempts in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Chicago.
Impact He appeared to be in complete control as he took a shutout into the third period, but things fell apart for Kuemper when a seemingly harmless Nick Foligno shot early in the final frame trickled through his legs, and the 34-year-old goalie then swept it into the net himself when he reached back to find it. Kuemper's day ended with an 0-for-3 showing in the shootout, which was capped by Ryan Donato deking him out of his shorts for the winner. Kuemper still has yet to take a regulation loss this season, going 3-0-3 in six starts, but his 3.11 GAA and .890 save percentage could cause him to lose his grip on the No. 1 job -- which would be a repeat of his fate in 2023-24 with the Capitals.
