North Texas hosts Evansville to begin season

Impact Hammond managed to play Saturday after having missed the team's loss to Memphis a week ago. In his return, he hauled in three passes for 31 yards.

Damon Ward Jr. - Returns and scores twice Ward Jr. (undisclosed) caught 6 of 9 targets for 111 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 45-37 loss against Tulane.

Impact Ward returned to the field Saturday after missing the last three games and looked as if he missed no time. He scored two touchdowns for the second time this season and accumulated 111 yards through the air. DT Sheffield also had a big day, proof that the pair of receivers can both be productive with Chandler Morris under center.

DT Sheffield - Excellent versus Tulane Sheffield hauled in 9 of 12 targets for 125 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 45-37 defeat against Tulane.

Impact Sheffield had another dominant performance Saturday as he accumulated over 120 receiving yards and 10 targets for the third straight game. He also caught his 10th touchdown of the season and has now scored at least once in each of his last five games. His connection with Chandler Morris has been excellent and with how much Morris is throwing the ball, Sheffield will at the very least continue to see high volume throughout the rest of the season.

Kiefer Sibley - Leads backfield Saturday Sibley tallied 11 rushes for 26 yards and caught 8 of 9 targets for 45 yards during Saturday's 45-37 loss against Tulane.

Impact Sibley saw just two touches last week and ended up leading the Mean Green's backfield in Saturday's loss. He received more than double the carries of any other running back, and added eight catches for 45 yards in the passing game. This breakout in workload comes as a bit of a surprise, but the Mean Green backfield has been incredibly difficult to predict. If he can maintain his grasp on the backfield, he would be in line for a productive end to the season.

Chandler Morris - Elite once again Morris completed 38 of 57 passes for 449 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's 45-37 defeat against Tulane. He also had six rushes for 20 yards with one touchdown.

Impact Morris had another elite outing Saturday. He accounted for four touchdowns in his fourth consecutive game, including punching one in on the ground in his second straight outing. He also set a season high with 449 yards passing, his fourth game this season with over 400 yards through the air. He faces a tough matchup versus Army after the bye week next week, but Tulane was a tough matchup on paper and he put up one of his best performances of the season.

Impact This is an encouraging sign that Hammond will be able to play versus the Green Wave after having missed last weeks loss versus Memphis. He has caught 13 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown across six games this season and will look to add to those totals if he ends up playing.

Impact Ward reportedly practiced this week, and the fact that he's dressing against Tulane is a good sign for his availability. It's still not guaranteed that the receiver will play, but it certainly appears likely at this point.

He also caught a nine-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He tied a season high with 13 targets and went for over 120 yards in his second straight outing. Sheffield has been nothing short of excellent this season and there's no reason to believe that will stop any time soon.

Blair Conwright - Scores in Saturday's loss Conwright hauled in 5 of 8 targets for 87 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 52-44 loss versus Memphis.

Impact Conwright scored his fourth touchdown of the season Saturday, a nine-yard reception late in the fourth quarter. He also set season highs in receptions and targets, thanks in large part to Chandler Morris attempting a whopping 61 passes. Morris will likely not continue to throw the ball that much, but this is a very productive passing offense and Conwright is clearly involved.

Shane Porter - Leads backfield again vs Memphis Porter posted 13 rushes for 75 yards and one touchdown and caught 1 of 2 targets for seven yards during Saturday's 52-44 defeat to Memphis.

Impact With both Ikaika Ragsdale (undisclosed) and Damashja Harris (undisclosed) out Saturday, Porter led the Eagles' backfield and put together a productive performance. He ran for over 70 yards for the third time in his last four games and scored his second touchdown of the season, a 10-yard run in the first quarter. It's currently unclear where he will fit in the backfield when and if Ragsdale and Harris return, but he has certainly made the most of his opportunity without them in the lineup.

Impact Morris attempted a whopping 61 passes Saturday and was unsurprisingly productive with that high volume. He threw for over 400 yards for the third time this season and tossed three touchdowns for the fifth time in seven games. He ranks second in the country in both passing yards and passing touchdowns, only behind Heisman contender Cam Ward. He also showed off his legs Saturday as he scored a 49-yard rushing touchdown and finished the game with a season-high 71 rushing yards. He faces a couple of difficult matchups in his next two games, but he has been too productive to look elsewhere.
